There was a time when going out into the street simply meant getting from one place to another. Buying some bread, catching the bus, going to work, walking the dog, or sitting at a café and killing time watching people go by.

These days, it can also mean unknowingly ending up as part of the background in a video that thousands of people on the other side of the world will be watching a few hours later.

Because social media has turned every corner of the city into a potential film set. You don't need a studio, lights, or a production crew anymore. All it takes is a phone, someone filming, and enough desire to get attention to do right there in the middle of the street what, not so long ago, was usually reserved for much more private places.

And that's exactly what makes these videos so entertaining: the contrast.

Everyday life carries on around them like nothing's happening. Cars driving by, people staring at their phones, tourists looking for directions, someone waiting for the light to change... and suddenly, a girl decides this is as good a time as any to flash her tits, strip off, or take a naked stroll down the street.

The next step seems inevitable: integrating artificial intelligence, voices, sensors, personalized responses, and increasingly natural movements. When that happens, they will stop being simple dolls and become something much harder to define. And that is when the uncomfortable questions will begin: if a machine can make us feel less alone, will it really matter that it feels nothing for us?
