Some crazy ideas end up finding their audience no matter how ridiculous they may seem at first.

You see them for the first time and think, "there's no way this is a real thing." But then people start paying attention. Someone pushes the idea a little further. Someone else turns it into a show. And before you know it, what once looked like a late-night joke has its own audience, runway events and even a category of its own.

That's exactly what happened with fashion designs created using adhesive tape.

Let's be honest: if someone had told us twenty years ago that models would one day be walking down runways wearing bikinis made entirely from strategically placed strips of tape, most of us would have assumed they were joking or had just come back from a particularly wild party. And yet, here we are.

Today there are shows, brands, designers and plenty of people following this trend. It's a curious mix of fashion, performance art, body art and that constant feeling of wondering just how far they can push things before something important comes unstuck.

What's even more surprising is that, strange as it sounds, visually it actually works. It feels futuristic, provocative and slightly dangerous, all at the same time.

The main reason we probably don't see these tape bikinis at beaches and swimming pools is fairly obvious: they don't look particularly easy or comfortable to make at home.

Watching a professional model wear one on a runway is one thing. Standing in front of your bathroom mirror with a roll of tape and a dream is something else entirely.

Still, if someone ever invents a version that's easy to apply, comfortable to wear and doesn't remove half your skin when you take it off, I have no doubt we'd eventually start seeing them at hotel pools and beach resorts.

Fashion has a habit of showing up where you least expect it.

While looking for amateur content for today's update, I found myself thinking about something that fits pretty well with what the Internet really is.

We often talk about the Internet as if it were either good or bad. As if it were somehow responsible for everything we find on it. But the more time I spend online, the more convinced I am that the Internet is nothing more than a reflection of ourselves. Of our virtues and our flaws. Of the things that make us proud as a society and the things we'd rather sweep under the rug.

The difference is that, outside the Internet, all of that is usually spread out. In real life, you can go weeks without running into certain people, ideas, or situations. Online, on the other hand, you can jump from something wonderful to absolute garbage with a single click. And sometimes that's a little unsettling.

Because we tend to think there are good people and bad people, when reality is usually far more complicated.

We all live with contradictions. We all have light and shadow. We're all capable of doing admirable things and acting like complete idiots depending on the moment, the circumstances, or who's judging us.
No matter how good a person thinks they are, they'll always be the asshole in someone else's story. Or even the villain.
