Humans have been getting naked for thousands of years. At first glance, it might seem like an activity with very little room for innovation: you’re dressed, you take your clothes off, and you’re not dressed anymore. Conceptually, there doesn’t seem to be much more to it.

But we’ve managed to incorporate dances, costumes, choreography, jumps, spins, camera cuts, camera movements, and all kinds of transitions, turning something as simple as taking off a shirt and a pair of pants into a small audiovisual production.

Some appear fully dressed and one second later they’re naked. Others use a spin, a jump, a sheet, a door, or pretty much anything lying around to make their clothes disappear. And some go as far as putting together an entire choreography just to reach exactly the same destination.

For decades, when people talked about conquering a country, they usually thought of armies, wars, or invasions. Today, things work a little differently. You can conquer half the world without firing a single shot. All you need is to create a culture that everyone else wants to consume, imitate, and share.

That’s what we call soft power: the ability to influence other countries through culture, entertainment, fashion, music, or film instead of military force or economic pressure.

Japan has been doing it for decades through anime, video games, and food. South Korea took notes and answered with K-pop, K-dramas, cosmetics, and an entire entertainment industry capable of attracting millions of people around the world.

And the interesting part is that they’re not just exporting songs or TV shows. They’re also selling an aesthetic. Colors, hairstyles, clothes, choreography, filming styles, lighting... A visual identity that inspires more and more creators, even outside Asia.

Because that’s exactly how soft power works. It doesn’t force anyone. It simply makes millions of people want to be part of that world.

The Internet hasn’t just changed the way we consume content; it has also blurred the line between professional and amateur quite a bit.

Back in the early 2000s, the difference seemed pretty clear. Professional content was produced with proper resources, equipment and commercial intent. Amateur content, on the other hand, was something people recorded at home with no greater purpose than having fun, experimenting or showing off in front of a camera.

Then social media, video platforms, subscriptions and the possibility of monetizing practically anything came along. Homemade no longer necessarily meant that there wasn’t any money involved. Today, someone can film themselves on their phone in their bedroom, without professional lighting or a production crew, and turn that seemingly improvised content into a pretty profitable business.





The same thing has happened in many other fields. In the past, if you wanted to share your opinions with an audience, you needed to work for a newspaper, radio station or television network. Now, all you need to do is open a channel and start talking from your living room. Musicians can produce songs in their bedrooms, streamers broadcast games from their desks, and anyone can become a food critic after ordering a burger and pointing their phone at it.

The amateur aesthetic has become professional, while professional content has learned how to look amateur. That sense of closeness, the apparent lack of preparation and the feeling that you’re watching something spontaneous create a connection that many traditional productions simply can’t achieve.

That fusion is even more obvious in adult content. The photos may look like they were taken without much planning, and the videos may retain that intimate, homemade feel, but there’s usually a strategy, an audience and a link behind it all that can turn every visit into a potential subscriber.

It’s no longer that easy to tell the difference between someone who gets naked for the thrill of showing off and someone who does it for business. Although, honestly, who cares?
